Corvallis Elks Lodge 1413 shows appreciation to Samaritan Coronavirus Prevention Team
On February 19th 2020, the senior leadership team of Samaritan Health Services (SHS) commissioned a task force focused on planning and preparation for coronavirus. SHS Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Robert Turngren, was named the executive sponsor of this initiative. Since that time, the task force has met nearly every day to review and research guidance from the Oregon Health Authority and the Center for Disease Control. The team then creates all the policies and protocols for the organization to prepare and care for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients, including the creation of mobile testing sites for patients to receive their COVID-19 tests. The task force also created a project structure that includes 26 subgroups that cover the many different areas of the SHS organization (ex. employee health, training and education, clinical protocols, ethics, and supply chain). In addition, the task force worked closely with each local hospital to create plans to handle a potential influx of patients. To learn more about the policies, training aids, and protocols related to COVID-19, please visit www.samhealth.org/coronavirus.
To honor and show appreciation for these local frontline heroes, our lodge provided the task force with lunch from their favorite restaurant – Local Boyz. Before handing over the food, we managed to get a properly social-distanced group photo of the task force members working on site that day. You may not be able to see it, but everyone was smiling. We also received a nice thank you note from the team.
